Our products are never and will never be tested on animals.

LVNEA fragrances are largely free of animal by-products, with a few exceptions. We may use local, ethically sourced honey or beeswax, which will always be listed in the ingredients. Our leather accord is entirely botanical, as are most of our musk accords, though some rare blends may include hyraceum.

We offer refills on select items, at our brick & mortar boutique in Montreal. Please email us at info@lvnea.com before your visit to confirm product bulk availability. Your bottle should be empty, and we recommend limiting refills to not more than twice to prevent residue buildup, which can affect the product quality.

We accept empty bottles and jars and ensure they are properly recycled through certified facilities, following strict safety and hygiene standards.

Yes - our glass bottles, paper tubes, and packaging boxes are made from recyclable materials. Please rinse containers before recycling and check your local recycling guidelines, as acceptance may vary by location.

Natural perfumes are scents composed of essential oils and absolutes crafted from flowers, herbs, woods, and citrus, used since ancient times for their sensory and healing properties. Unlike synthetic perfumes, which often use chemical fixatives for a lasting single note, natural perfumes evolve over time, each note giving way to the next. These perfumes capture the essence of plants, creating a unique, vibrant experience that only nature can offer.

We firmly believe that scent does not have a gender and that self-care is fundamental regardless of where you exist on the gender spectrum. All our fragrances and apothecary products can be used and worn by everyone.

Our line of botanical oil perfume are a complex blend of absolutes, essential oils, and plant extracts in fractionated coconut oil, diluted to 15-20%. Oil perfumes have a subtle sillage, and tend to stay closer to the skin. The longevity of each perfume will vary in accordance to the wearer’s unique skin chemistry, from a few hours for lighter notes (citrus, needles oil) to 6–8 hours for heavier notes (incense, leather). For a stronger effect, apply generously to pulse points on clean, hydrated skin.

Our Eaux de Parfum are made using traditional French perfumery techniques and crafted with essential oils and handmade tinctures in pure alcohol at a 20% dilution. Eaux de Parfum offer strong sillage and last 4–8 hours. They can be applied to skin, hair, or misted on clothing to extend wear—avoid direct contact with delicate fabrics to prevent staining.

Our solid perfumes are a range of intimate scents in an oil and wax base, with a 20–25% dilution of floral waxes, plant infusions, and essential oils. This rich but subtle fragrance performs best when applied to warm, hydrated skin and acts as an excellent base when layering with one of our Eau de Parfum.

Often mistaken for a masculine perfume, Eaux de Cologne are unisex fragrances made from fresh, herbaceous notes of citrus oils, herbs, and flowers. Historically, they were used not only as fragrance, but also as powerful cure-all tonics that combined aspects of herbalism with perfumery. 

Our line of colognes draw inspiration from these traditional formulae and can be used as perfume, room spray, uplifting aromatherapy mists, or in ritual. Our EDC are diluted at an exceptionally high 10% to 14% dilution strength, providing a robust sillage, especially if sprayed on fabric, rather than skin.

Our fragrances may contain naturally occurring allergens from plant sources, such as limonene and linalool, molecules commonly found in citrus, flower, and herb essential oils. Some people may be sensitive to these ingredients, just as they might be to certain foods. We recommend reviewing the ingredient list and patch-testing any new product before incorporating it into your routine.

It is recommended to store your perfume in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight or extreme varying temperatures, as these factors may accelerate the degradation of the fragrance. Avoid storing perfumes in the bathroom, as this area is inevitably subject to high heat and moisture.

Our specialty violet glass packaging will help protect your perfume blend from light, but it should still be placed somewhere dark and dry, with the cap on the bottle, to prevent evaporation and cross-contamination.

The lifespan of our oil-based perfumes (parfum botanique and parfum crème) will depend on how they are stored. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend using our products within 2 years of purchase.

Alcohol based products (eau de parfum and eau de cologne) do not expire per se, but given the nature of the plant essences and natural materials we use to create all our offerings, the scent is likely to change over time.

Our specialty violet glass packaging will protect your products from light, but they should still be stored in a cool, dry area away from extreme or varying temperatures. 

Our face and body serums should be used within a year of purchase to assure the integrity of their aromatic and healing properties.Our natural, preservative-free creams should be used within 6 months of purchase, and stored outside the bathroom, as they are susceptible to temperature changes and bacterial growth.

For optimal use and safety:

• Trim wick to ¼ inch using a wick-trimmer or household scissors
• Remove wick trimmings from wax
• First burn should be at least 1 hour
• Always let the entire top layer melt completely, to prevent tunneling and uneven melting
• Place on a heat-resistant surface
• Keep away from children and pets
• Never leave unattended

Essential oils are a by-product of distillation, a method of extraction used for various aromatic leaves, barks, seeds, stems, roots, and flowers. They are a high-potency, generally mobile liquid with a strong aroma and a multitude of uses which will vary depending on the plant matter. All of our essential oils are perfumery-grade, undiluted (unless otherwise specified), and available in either 5ml or 15ml vials. For larger quantities, email us.

As a general rule, essential oils should not be taken internally, and should be diluted before being applied to the skin. When purchasing an essential oil for the first time, we recommend doing your own research about each individual oil, from multiple trust-worthy sources, to learn how to use them safely and efficiently.

The majority of essential oils are suited for use in a diffuser, but some may be too thick or viscous to properly diffuse.

Other uses for essential oils can be: creating your own perfume or aromatherapy blends, creating bath and body care products, creating household cleaning products, ironing water — the possibilities are endless!

Remember that household pets can be very sensitive to scent, so please diffuse responsibly.

Similar to an essential oil, an absolute is a byproduct of plant extraction, and is primarily used as a perfumery ingredient. Absolutes are pure, fragrant plant matter, often viscous or semi-solid, and can require a transformative process in order to be used.

It is not recommended to use an absolute in an essential oil diffuser. Like essential oils, absolutes should not be taken internally, and must be diluted before being applied to the skin.
