Strange

Has a sour, oaky, vaguely unpleasant smell when first sprayed - somewhere between spilled whiskey and (as my boyfriend put it) "chicken bullion". After about an hour, however, the scent becomes very soft and enticing. I can definitely smell the rose absolute - not a bright, vibrant summer floral - but a decaying rose after the petals start to wither. Lvnea's descriptions of "dry, husky, sun-drenched hay and worn floorboards with a brittle rose heart" is pretty spot on. With the rose note especially, it conjures thoughts of the fifth book in Stephen King's The Dark Tower series - Wolves of the Calla. It's not necessarily a "nice" smell, per se... but it's strangely haunting all the same. I find myself bringing my wrists to my face and inhaling beneath my sleeves. Arrived on Halloween. Definitely a fitting tribute to the season of fading warmth and dying light. Honestly... I think I might grow to love it.

Lovely, warming, inviting scent

I never thought anything could top my love for Foret Dormante... but then Holy Oak and Papillon de Nuit came by and now Besom (reminds me slighlty of Holy Oak but a bit sweeter?). Makes me feel like I'm cozy by the hearth with a cup of something warm after a day of traipsing through the leaves on a fall day - earthy, sensual, not too sweet. It's my new favorite, please bring her back <3
